hero introduction
The Treant Protector's main focus is helping allies and absorbing damage, although his Overgrowth spell is one of the most powerful offensive abilities in the game. Rooftrellen can buff both his own and his allies' armor and hit point regeneration to very high levels with Natural Armor, and if that isn't enough to keep them safe he can turn them invisible with Nature's Guise. As long as they remain near a tree, they will remain hidden. Eyes in the Forest give Rooftrellen the ability to spy on his enemies. Although most of his abilities are defensive in nature, the Treant Protector's offensive power should not be underestimated. Using Overgrowth he can entangle all enemies in a large area around him, dealing lots of damage and stopping their movement for several seconds. In addition, the Treant Protector is no slouch in combat himself, with a powerful physical attack and near unstoppable constitution. Much like nature itself, this hero should not be underestimated.

Skills
Nature's Guise
Changes a target friendly unit's appearance so that it blends in with the forest. It becomes invisible to enemy eyes, but it must remain near a tree, or the Guise is lost.
Discussion: Basic escape mechanism for Treant that grants invisibility to allied units as well. Hides casted units from foes as long as they remain near a tree. Lasts for a decent duration even on lower levels with a particularly low cooldown and mana cost.
They can see you...
Forest Sentinel
Summons a forest spirit at the target location. The Sentinel will act as a passive, invisible watcher until the Treant Protector activates it. While active, a sentinel will unleash a powerful attack on the first enemy who strays too close.
Discussion: Warding skill that gives map awareness and serves as a beacon to signal allies for incoming ganks. Used for rune spotting and and stunning enemies who come close to the active sentinel. Also deals damage upon impact equivalent to that of a small nuke.
Transform Sentinel
Discussion: Activates the Sentinel to an active state to dive in to the nearest enemy that strays too near, dealing damage and stunning it for a brief period. Can be activated from a long distance.
Living Armor
Magically creates an armor of vines around a friendly unit, protecting it from harm and healing wounds.
Discussion: Basic hero support spell that regenerates self, allies, and towers. Primarily used to stay in lane longer and babysit lane partners. Adds great amount of armor as well for tanking purposes.
Overgrowth
Summons an overgrowth of damaging vines and branches. Prevents all nearby enemies from moving or attacking and deals damage to each.
Discussion: Signature ultimate that holds nearby enemy units for a 3/4/5 second duration dealing damage to tangled enemies. Renders foes unable to move or attack. Prevents the use of blink and goes through magic immunity. If, however a unit becomes magic immune while under the effect with Overgrowth the unit will break free.

Explanation: More commonly known as the "Battle Type" build, extremely popular for newer players due to less demanding role of absorbing damage and inflicting it in return. This build focuses on maxing out "Living Armor" in the early stages alongside with a few level of "Stats" for tanking purposes. "Overgrowth" is taken whenever possible as it is imperative to have a mass disabling skill as well as another escape mechanism.

Explanation: This build is used in organized games and is the common choice for experienced players. Stats is taken in the later stages.

Inventory Items:

Things Lacking:

[1] Attack Speed
[2] Damage Resistance

Starting Items

Get these items to further increase your strength capabilities.
Also get a couple of these for cheap early game stats.
This item can help you tank and absorb damage with no problem thanks to "Living Armor". This is your early game core so you may buy at least two of these to help you tank more effectively.
Since you will be buying Bracer, you can upgrade it to this newly introduced item that improves your Stats and fairly increases the movespeed and attackspeed of all friendly units within 900 AoE.
Another possible choice for Rooftrellen that gives the same strength that of one Bracer and a good ally saving item that heals 400 HP over 8 seconds as well as a counter regeneration of 150 HP lost over 8 seconds if used on an enemy.

Footwear
This item gives you Movespeed, Attackspeed, and Attributes. Highly increases your toughness onwards.
This is great for chasing fleeing enemy heroes and adds decent damage of +24.
In the latter stages of the game you will need instant teleportation in order to participate and assist in team battles. Since you will be the primary initiator you need the mobility this item gives.

Regeneration Items
Although it might not be necessary to get because you already have a good source of regeneration this might still come in handy especially if you are laning against aggressive spell casters and other long ranged heroes.
Get this as a last resort if you are getting maximum harassment.

Utility Items
Basic teleportation item needed to transport you from one place to the other. Always keep one or two in your inventory to escape incoming ganks.
One of the best heroes to carry this item due to large health pool and escape mechanism. Get this when you are having trouble with wind-walkers.

Core Item
A very expensive and hard to farm item overall due to Sacred Relic being a solid 3800gs. Once you have completed this item you will have less trouble farming up for other post core items. Perfect synergy with your ultimate and since you have high HP you can afford to wield this and deal large sums of damage.

Extended Core and Luxuries
Solves the problem on attack speed, and damage resistance. Has auras that increase armor and attack speed of allies as well. Supports well during the duration of "Overgrowth" making you and your allies land more hits and tank more damage. Reduces armor of enemy units and structures.
This might turn your already insane Strenght over exaggerated but will make you the ultimate tank and with your high physical damage no one would want to have a fist fight with you.
A great item that enables Treant to cast his ultimate for a second time. With this item you can keep the entire enemy team for a period of 10 seconds at maximum level, enough time for you and your carries to rape the other team apart.
Get this if there are a lot of Butterfly carriers and if there are heroes like Mortred, Jah'rakal, Mangix etc. present on the other team. Good for interfering channeling spells and an additional +15 to your attack speed.
This is made for you especially if you have filled 5 inventory slots already. Game-breaking item that is epic when wielded by a hard to take down tree. +250 Damage.

Orbs
Description: There are only a handful of orbs you can choose from and only two are good enough for you to get compared with the rest.
Additional buffer to your strength and the attack speed, plus the Greater Maim that slows enemy attacks and movement by 30%.
If S&Y gives attack speed, this item provides toughness and powerful life steal. +25 Strength, +20 Damage, and +5 Armor.

Other Viable Items
If you are having problems farming up your Radiance then you might want to get this item first to make things easier. Good for blocking some damage.
Optional item to be bought on extreme cases where heroes like N'aix, Mortred, and Jah'rakal are around. The agility is somewhat wasted though.
A cheap way to discourage frontal assaults from heavy hitters with the return damage on.
Taken because of the splash damage it provides. Treant has high Physical attack that makes this item worth the gold and if combined with Buriza or Divine can cause a lot of pain tolerance. Works best when using "Overgrowth" where enemies are closely tied together.
Adds attack speed, movement speed, and the the mirror images that provides some damage as well. Great item to confuse enemies.
This item is taken when the opposite team has 3 or more nukers. Somewhat a major setback for you due to the delays this might cause for you to get your main items.
A good alternative for Divine Rapier to ensure it does not fall into the wrong hands. Get this once completed and solved the problem on attack speed to score more critical hits.
Get this if there are heroes with true sight so that you can land a surprise ultimate instead of wind-walking to cast "Overgrowth". Adds another escape mechanism as well.

Lane Phase
You have poor jungling because you lack DPS meaning you need to stay in lane.
Roles in Lane:
[1] Babysit
[2] Tank
[3] Ward

Choosing a lane...
Take the side lanes and babysit your carries. Early game is about last hits, denies, and rune control. Your job is to support and tank the damage for your team. Treant has good last hitting simulations giving you an edge.
Middle lane is for heroes that needs to level up fast like SF, PotM, Tinker etc. You can help them by warding the Rune spots to give sight to where the runes are popping out.

Treant Roles

Initiating
One of the major roles of Rooftrellen is to initiate team fights throught the use of his ultimate "Overgrowth". But before we come to the juicy part let's first take a look on the steps to successful initiation.
Step 1: Ward the place down to the last tree with Forest Sentinel.
Step 2: Use Nature's Guise on your teammates and yourself (Always stay near a tree)
Step 3: Make sure key enemy heroes are present in the area
Proceed to 4th step if step 3 is achieved
Step 4: Coordinate your moves to your allies
Step 5: Activate Overgrowth
Step 6: Kill

The juicy part
If the enemy is trying to counter your invisibility, buy Blink Dagger to achieve anew element of surprise and escape. Tell allies to follow you soon after you blink in and casted OG. If your going to cast OG however make sure you do it in the center and if there are only a few creeps around. This way, you will be able to catch a lot of heroes in your vine trap.

Hero Support
If your team decides to push a lane it would be a great support if you would lead the charge as you have good amount of armor and HP. Try to cast Nature's Guise on heroes that lack an escape mechanism like DS and SF. They will love you for this and will probably save them the trouble of getting Lothar's Edge. Another way to support is to use Forest Sentinel to scout for Runes early on to help those in mid lane get to them before the enemy. It can be used to alert allies for incoming ganks as well thru the vision it provides.

Tanking
Another role of Treant is to absorb the damage for the team. Since you are a Strength hero it is a great honor to die taking all those Laguna Blades and Finger of Deaths for the greater good.

Threats

Carries
You need to either finish up the game quickly or buy items like MKB or Ethereal Blade to counter these monsters. Do not hesitate, show no mercy.

Disablers/Nukers
Mostly anyone who has high burst damage with a disable is a threat no matter how weak they are in terms of HP. Techies is particularly dangerous early to mid game because his mines are really packed with killer explosives. DO NOT FOLLOW HIM TO HIS TRAPS! He can keep you stunned for a long time with "Stasis Trap" and since you are a melee hero True Sight won't help you destroy his mines.

Dean's Listers:
May be weak early game but when late game sets in and farmed with Manta Style and Eye of Skadi can win the game by himself. Has control over the second most powerful illusions in DotA and Treant is not built for that kind of fighting.
Famous tank destroyer that eats up HP like a termite. Does not care about your skills and high damage due to "Rage" and "Feast" except for "Overgrowth" that comes through his magic immunity.
Has high mana regeneration mid to late game due to Sadist and probably with Guinsoo making his HP unsinkable while yours will drop low enough until he can cast Reaper's Scythe to finish you.
Like TB he has a private army of illusions that are very irritating and hard to get rid of. Has a slow that can be casted until you are dead.
Rooftrellen is a skill user and a team initiator. You cannot afford to have delays and more importantly you can't afford to lose mana.
This is your arch enemy strength hero that deals an insanely high damage. Relies mainly on his physical attacks to destroy armor. Gank him occasionally.
You have high HP therefore he is not too much of a threat but be wary of his silence. Beat him before he gets Radiance first.

Word of Advice: Kill them all!
